Cómpeta is a delightful town situated less than an hour from Málaga Airport, en route to Motril. Perched at 700 metres above sea level, it offers breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea, rolling countryside, and surrounding mountains.

Famed for its locally produced wines, both dry and sweet, Cómpeta’s vibrant wine culture comes alive during the annual “Noche del Vino” (Night of the Wine) on 15th August. This festive occasion boasts a lively programme of flamenco and sevillana music and dance, accompanied by an abundance of free-flowing wine.

The town itself is a picturesque mosaic of flower-adorned streets, with its heart centred around the charming “Plaza Almijara.” Here, you can admire the impressive 16th-century church while savouring local tapas and wines at the nearby bars and restaurants, making it the perfect spot to relax and unwind.

Exploring Cómpeta is a captivating experience, with its labyrinth of narrow, cobbled streets dating back to Moorish times, each revealing stunning views. The town also serves as an ideal base for exploring the enchanting beauty of the region.
